So you understand what a blog is, and you have your head wrapped around the simple, yet powerful technology of RSS feeds, now you got to start blogging!

For the complete internet beginner, head on over to WordPress.com, and sign up for a 100% free blog! This will get you blogging in seconds, and you won’t have to worry about databases, plugins and all the more technical stuff. But for those of you that want full control of your blog, and have a hosting account that allows you to use php and mySQL, download WordPress from WordPress.org, and upload it to your hosting provider. All the instructions are over at WordPress.org, and it literally takes minutes to install, because of the famous five minute installation that WordPress rave about.

Need a webhost?

There are webhost’s that offer one-click installations of WordPress. Dreamhost (aff) and Media Temple are two hosts that you can’t go wrong with. There are a number of blogging platforms to choose from, but WordPress really does come out tops. Being a 100% free, open source, community driven blogging platform, means you can’t go wrong. There are also tons of plugins and themes developed by the WordPress community that you can use to change and enhance your blog. I will be discussing some of these things later, but for now, trust me and forget about the rest, just use WordPress!
